Hey there!
Welcome to Local.
We’re a Melbourne-born business here to reshape the way Australians think about housing. We create and manage communities of apartments built entirely for renters.
What
are we about?
What we’re about isn’t just the walls, windows, doors, and roof, but what having a home really means.
We all want a space that’s well and truly ours. To do with whatever we like with. Splash the walls with colour. Raise a family. Snuggle our pets. To live and belong in, for as long as we like.
Living at Local should feel less like a rental property and more like a home.
Homes that open the door to top notch amenities, like private dining rooms, co-working spaces, wellness areas and swimming pools. Homes in well-connected places within thriving communities. Where everyone can live like a Local. (See what we did there?)
Where
are we becoming Locals?
First stop, Melbourne.
Right now, we’ve got over 1,300 apartments under construction in three great Melbourne neighbourhoods, Box Hill, Kensington and South Melbourne and you can read more about them below.
Living with Local means having your own space that’s all yours. To decorate, design, dine, and dive. (Yes, dive. As in swimming pool dive. So, bring your blow-up unicorn.)
Every element of a Local project, from top to bottom, is designed to improve the connection, comfort, and quality of the community in and around it. Now, and long into the future.
So, what's
the plan?
In a nutshell, the plan is to have at least 5000 apartments either built or in the works around Australia by 2026 .
Our buildings are designed with the environment in mind. There’s no Planet B so we’re putting our efforts into protecting this one. We’re proud to already be operating at net zero, fully electric, utilising maximum renewable energy while producing minimal waste. No fossil fuels here, thanks very much!
We’d also love to tell you about our commitment to incorporate a component of housing that will create positive social impact in each of our communities. We call this ‘impact housing’ and it means that we will work directly with registered housing providers, Women’s Property Initiatives and Home in Place, across three groups to supply homes to people who need them. Women over 55 and at risk of homelessness, key workers who are vital to our communities, and those in need of specialist disability accommodation who don’t currently have suitable homes.
We’re excited to become part of lots of great neighbourhoods as we build opportunities for everyone to have a sustainable and socially conscious life.
